I installed my new Quanta gas tank yesterday. The tank came with the flange prebent on corners and in the area where the straps pass. Although the flange was much larger than the original, it slid in without much trouble. It took me about 5 hours. The only mistake I made was in not ordering a new sending unit. My gas gauge worked fine, but once I had removed the unit I noticed a rust film on it. The tank must of set some time without gas. I reinstaled the unit after a brief clean-up. Before I put the cover back on I added 3 gals of gas and started the car. The gas gauge was reading 1/2 to 3/4 full. Maybe I disturbed some rust with in the unit itself. I even added the extra ground wire from the unit to the frame. I guess,I'll need to go back in and replace the unit this Spring if it is not working. I was thinking it may staighten out on its own. Sure! I hope I tighten the clamps tight enough on the filler neck hose to the tank. I was afraid of striping them. When I filled up the tank and topped it off for storage, I noticed a spot of gas beneath the area. Maybe I just put too much in and it was overflow. I certainly will check them out when I go back in this Spring. Thanks to everyone for all the tips that certainly saved me time and grief. Thanks again, Happy new year! Jon
