    66 Corvette wiper blade holders

What do the blade holders for a March 3rd build 66 vette look like are they flat or domed? Shiny or satin? Thanks for any help in advance.

    Brian,

Mid to late 66 blade holders would have the dull finish and would have the peak (dome). That's the easy part. The hard part is finding a set with only Trico engraved on the end of the blade without the made in USA.
The later service replacement blade holders have made in USA so they are far more common. Hope that helps.

Brian - In addtion to the TRICO windshield wiper blade holder information Don presented, 1966 Corvettes could of had ANCO w/s/w holders as original equipment. Both TRICO & ANCO were OEM suppliers of w/s/w blade assemblies to GM back in the 60s and probably still are.

The 1966 ANCO holders were also 15" and had the brushed finish and peaked shaped top and were used for the entire 1966 production year and in 1967. If you're out looking for the ANCO holders, please note that the OEM ANCOs that were used in 1966 & 1967 did NOT have the red or gray button on the top for refill replacement.

There is a ebay listing "66 67 Corvette, Impalla Trico wiper blades"(blades and holders in the picture) then goes on to say "these do not say Trico on them but GM says they are". I am disgusted with Ebay as it is mostly liars, cheats, and scammers. New years resoltion, no Ebay purchases unless the seller is a NCRS member. Dale

Dale, how do you know if they are NCRS members?
I have a set of 66 flat, satin TRICO wiper blades on Ebay. They say TRICO and made in the usa on the ends. Are they correct or am I misleading people?
          Thanks, Ken

Re: 66 Corvette wiper blade holders

Hello; I restore 63-67 wiper arms and blades and have seen every possible type on the planet! I am 100% positive that the finish is a satin brushed finish. As far as the type or shape goes, I have seen the 63-5 trico tpye blades with a satin finish on them and was told that they were used on late 66 cars. I have also been told that the inverted V or peaked type were also used as well as in 1967. As far as the Trico vs. Trico made is USA stamping, I am sure that they were both used on the assembly line. One judge told me that if the blade has Trico made in USA on it, it was made for EXPORT? If that is true, than every 63-7 wiper arm that you will see made by Trico, is wrong as on the back filler plate on the last line it says--Made in USA! As far as the arm goes, the base is Satilite Chrome and the fat part is brushed and the extension that holds the blade is shinney. I hope this helps? Andy

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is the progression of the C2 Trico blade holder. Early 63 were shiney flat top without Can 63 on the connector, and with Trico on the ends. Late 63 through 65 were shiney flat top with Can 63, and with Trico on the ends. Early 66 were dull finish flat top with Trico on the ends. Mid 66 through early 67 were brush finish with the peak and Trico on the ends. Late 67 and later service replacements were brush finish with the peak and Trico made in USA on the ends.

Re: C2 TRICO w/s/w blade holders

Don - That would be the general chronology I would subscribe to with two comments.

                1) We see some early 66 dull finish, flat top holders with TRICO stamped on one end usually the top end and no stamping on the bottom end piece. Too many to ignore the fact that all blades were stamped in production.

                2) I would move the timeline for the 67 TRICO brush finish, peaked top holders with TRICO and MADE IN USA up a bit more to the middle, i.e late Jan or Feb of calendar year 1967, of 67 production as it appears that the addition of the MADE IN USA started in calendar year 1967. Also, it should be noted that in this transition period TRICO produced brush finish, peaked top holders with TRICO stamped on one end and TRICO and MADE IN USA on the other end. Again, too many of these holders have been observed to ignore. I would suggest the sequence for these brush finish peaked top holders was TRICO stamped on both ends, a relatively short period during the transition when the brushed finish peaked top holders had TRICO stamped on one end and TRICO and MADE IN USA stamped on the other as older stock pieces were being used up by manufacturing, and then the brushed finish, peaked top holder with TRICO and MADE IN USA stamped on both ends.
