I'm closing in on the final 30 days of my 1967 B/B coupe resto. After I complete the interior I was wondering about installing a fire extinguisher. Maybe someone can answer the following to meet NCRS Rules & Regs, 1- Size or weight,2- type ABC & dry chem,3- location & proper mounting hardware (plastic or metal),4- MFR like Kidde or equal. I saw some treads a while back on this issue but saw nothing I can remember about installation on the car and location regs. And one last question, does this help in getting your car judged. Thanks, grr#33570

Re: 67 coupe Fire Extinguisher NCRS rules/regs. *TL*
GRR, I'll quote from the NCRS Judging Reference Manual (not a bad book to buy if you intend to have us judge your car.)
Section 2 #25 reads in part: The following items, if present, will be credited as scoring bonus points during Flight, Duntov, McLellan, or Founders Award Operations Judging. Each listed item will be worth three (3) bonus points. If all are present, the bonus credited will be 10 points.
A. Small in-line battery cut-off switch requiring no modification of existing components.
B. An appropriate size and type fire extinguisher, large enough to reasonably expect the capacity of extinguishing an engine fire.
C. Small NCRS window decal.
So there is NO requirement to mount the extinguisher, and most folks do not. As you can also see there is no specific size requirement, however I have seen the pocket sized extinguishers that are sold on late night infomercials disallowed. The NCRS decal is available from the membership office. There is another thread dealing with the several styles of battery cut off switches, and I have stated my opinions on that subject there. I recommend you take advantage of these bonus points.

Re: 67 coupe Fire Extinguisher NCRS rules/regs.
I keep my fire extinguisher on the floor behind the passenger seat. During judging you will be asked to remove it from the car and place it out side of the vehicle where the judges can see it. If you keep it behind the passenger seat it's easy to get at with out a lot of twisting and turning. Rich #2276- Top
