    Trailering mirrors

Happy New Year to all of my NCRS friends--

Just purchased a new 07 Tahoe and plan to occasionally use it to trailer my 66 roadster in a box trailer. The car has the standard manual fold out mirrors. I think that the camper/trailer mirrors that extend out further are in order if I am to pull the trailer. I believe that GM offers this option on the Tahoe? Otherwise, is there a temporary extended mirror that can be used for occasional trailering?

    Regards,
    Dave K.

    Re: Trailering mirrors

Here are a couple of places to check out:

I've used the CIPA mirrors in the past and they work great. Just not power extending.

Inow have the power GM mirrors on my Suburban. They are great and I would recommend them.

I found that the clip on extensions are a pain in the neck.

Dave, if you are ordering the Tahoe, I heartily recommend the GM power extending mirrors. I have them on my pickup and they were perfect all the way to Texas and back this summer.

Can the GM extending mirrors be retro fitted to a 2001 Suburban? Is this something GM service will do?

I don't know, in theory they can be, but I would expect it to be pricy. I'd ask you local parts guy if there is a kit.

HI Dave, The extending electric mirrors are not available on the Tahoe. They are available on the 2500 Yukon XL and the suburban though. It would cost a fortune to retrofit your Tahoe with these babies. My 2500 XL has them and they are really great. You can buy some decent extenders that clamp ons for your mirrors but unless they have improved lately they tend to vibrate. Good luck on the new Tahoe. Did you get it from one of our sponsors? Cardina and I have a friend that bought some neat clamp ons for his new Duramax crew cab. The mirrors did vibrate some but were decent. Let me know and I will get you some info. Happy New Year, John
