So you still have some '55 action on the forum: Roy, how many ground straps on a '55 and where are they located and where are they attached? I know some are on exhaust. Since I'm doing exhaust in a week or so, I thought I'd start on ground straps. Thanks!
Engine wise is weather early or late 55 Mine #401 has one on the left side only from frame to front engine mount , white and black wire to L/S valve cover , wiper to hand brake bolt (under hood area) others done under dash area .exshaust near X frame two one on each pipe , seen also at rear on some. Seen one on fire wall bolt gas linkage to spark plug holder, It varies , NCRS don't know nothing, seen to many configuration over the years so don't loose sleep over it ,do what makes you happy.
Oh! sure AUCTION , you, mike and me, three guys stuck owening an old 55
(55 #518) I have no VC ground wire, and my engine to frame braided strap is on RH mount, and has no terminals on the ends, the bolts are just pushed through the mesh. Don't forget the one in the middle of the radio cable which magically appears in the middle of the RH rocker panel and attaches to the chassis!
Love the cartoon, my Dad drilled a few holes in the floor after just such an incident!

I've never seen that done before, each end has a terminal, and many did get holes drilled in the floor area to let the water out.Because I drive mine also in the rain it took some time till I stopped water from getting in and now I get no water, us less the vett is pointing up hill when I open the door , but again a "dealer FIX" back then was to drill and add a copper tube to drain water at the front door body weatherstrip any one remembers seeing that, it was a common fix.
