Need 75 Diverter Valve Number Clarification?

In the NCRS Judging manual they call out a DIverter Valve for a 75 L-48 with a 7029199 with a Broadcast Code of GJ and a L-82 a number of 7030760 and DC Broadcast Code.

My car had came with 33K original and had a 7030760 Diverter valve on it. The original owner and the Chevy dealer that serviced the car said it was never touched. I have talked with several people and they say that the 7029199 is not correct for a 75 L-48.

Does anyone have any further information regarding these numbers on what trule is correct?

    Lyle----

You have been advised correctly regarding the diverter valve. The GM #7030760 valve was used on all 1975 Corvettes, both L-48 and L-82. I would not rule out the possibility that VERY early 1975's OF EITHER ENGINE used the 7029199, but I HIGHLY doubt it.

Strangely, although the GM #7030760 valve was once available in SERVICE and catalogued for 1976 model Corvettes, it was never catalogued in SERVICE for 1975 models. For 1975, the initial SERVICE valve was GM #7040150 and it remained so until February, 1987 when it was replaced by GM #17084023. The latter was a black plastic valve which replaced only the 7040150. It was discontinued in March, 1997.

The 7030760 valve was available in SERVICE until September, 1985 when it was replaced by GM #17084011, another black plastic valve. That valve was discontinued in June, 1999.

Don't know about 1975 but the 1973 and 1974 had the same broadcast code of GJ and the diverter valve is 7039199 for the L-48. It could be like Joe says that early 75's were the same as 73 and 74.

        Charles-----

If any 1975 Corvettes used the 7039199 diverter valve, it would only have been VERY early cars (like, maybe the first few weeks of production). However, I strongly doubt that any did.

The judging manual is always subject to change as few 75's have been judged. From what Joe has said I belive a change needs to be looked at.I will check my 75 which has the original pump still runing.

            Lyle----

1975 also used a one-year-only AIR pump----GM #7817575. I have an NOS example of one of these pumps [not for sale] and I can tell you that it has exactly the same configuration as the 69-74 pumps. However, there must be some difference.

The diverter valve on our January 16, '75 ,(approx. build date), 45K mile, L-48 is original and is 7030760 with DC broadcast code.
