I had my 63 judges recently at Boston Regional and I was told by judge that I was missing front brake spring. he didn't elaborate- I have no idea what he could be talking about? Where is there a front spring on front wheel that a judge would see? any help to clarify, I lost 2 points. THANKS

Re: brake spring on 63
well, it would seem to be 2 of them ( now that I think about it)because I lost 2 points , probably one for each wheel, so at least for the Regional in Boston the opinion was 2 springs- thanks again for your help.- Top

Re: brake spring on 64, both front & back ?
Just to add to confusion
I have a Mar64 with round springs on back (both wheels) and a flat spring on drivers front wheel.
What section of JG is the spring in??
The 71 Parts Cat calls for 2 springs on the 63-64 w/SP H/Per, pn 3776935 on the rear. Bet these numbers changed a few times before the end of 63/64 production run thus yielding a number for flat and a number for round.
Does anybody know the dimensions of these, width of flat and dia of round?
Good luck with your search and I'm off to do a search of the real story.- Top

Re: Maybe J56 item
The 3776935 may not be the spring going around the drum, if not could it be for the J56 option? Think Duke can answer this one.
It does not appear it is anything else than the spring that goes around the drum since a spring is used for 63-67 pn 3694290 on all cars except Sp.H/Per. My car is a Sp.H/Per with the J65 brake option and has springs therefore I believe a Sp.H/Per car did have springs and the only number left is the 3776935.
Hope somebody can help!- Top

Re: brake spring on 64, both front & back ?
well it seems in talking to Paragon and Long Island corvette supply, that 63 had a flat spring and 64 had a round one. Each of them told me that they really weren't sure whether it was the 2 front or both. It is pretty well decided though that there are definetly 2 on the front. its whether there are 2 on the back as well. I don't know because in my 1963 assembly manual I couldn't find any reference to a spring anywhere on any wheel drum. Its a bit confusing. But as I wrote earlier, I was deducted 2 points at the Boston regional for not having them on the front and there was no mention of springs on the back wheels or any point deduction taken.- Top
