    Attn:Joe Lucia ;Another Capacitor Question

    Hello: (C2 and C3)

    Still going through my inventory and came up with some #1852715 capacitors.
    I had written "Coil" on the boxes. I assume that this is the capacitor that
    goes on the ignition coil. Here are my questions:

    Is that number still good at the GM parts counter or do we have a updated one?

    Does the wire for the capacitor go to the + or - side of coil?

    Does this capacitor still have to be used if the car is a non-radio car?

    Thanks Again; Larry

    Larry-----

    You're correct; GM #1852715 is a capacitor which was originally used for the ignition coil application. It was used in PRODUCTION for 1973-74 Corvettes and became SERVICE for most earlier applications when previously capacitors were discontinued.

    1) GM #1852715 was discontinued without supercession in March, 1997;

    2) The capacitor wire goes to the POSITIVE side of the coil;

    3) The capacitor was installed as part of the radio interference suppression system; it has no real functionality outside of that system. However, it's probable that this particular capacitor may have been installed at the factory on many non-radio optioned cars. This may have occurred simply as a facet of assembly convenience.
