    correct boot for alternator 63?

    does the correct boot for a 63 alternator have a rib across the top, or is it flat without rib. What is correct type? please help. thanks

    four ribs or in other words, a pair of ribs that cross in their centers.junkyards full of them-gm pass cars of early 60's. mike

      Joe, My 63 had an original wiring harness in it so I had the original alternator boot which we easily put on the new repro harness. Yes it has a cross effect of ribs like Dr. MIke just explained. I see variations of this boot so you have to be careful. My original one had a rather large hole for the boot to slide onto the harness. Most of the junk yard ones I have "seen" had a small hole therefore making it a tough job to install on a new harness. From time to time these are on ebay in the $25.00 range. John
