Can someone help me with what should be a simple question? Where does the oil pressure sender go on this engine (4 bolt main)? There does not seem to be a logical oriface for the sender to screw in. The block is not for my car--I have a '62. It was priced right though so I bought it anyway. Thanks.
The oil sender installs into one of the tappings on the block above the oil filter. However, a special reduction bushing must be installed first. This bushing has 1/2" NPT male threads (which go into the block tapping) and 1/8" NPT female threads (into which the oil pressure line fitting installs).
Actually, both of them are for an external oil cooler installation (these were never installed in PRODUCTION, though). You need to remove one of the plugs to install the oil pressure bushing. It should be the one that is nearly "centered" with the oil filter cavity. I think that only one of the tappings is for 1/2" NPT and that's the one you want. The other one is, I believe, 3/8" NPT.
