55 drive shaft

The body is off my 55, I'm considering having a drive shaft fabricated for it now. The old one was missing. Trans is a cast iron Powerglide with a longer tailshaft. Should I wait until the body is on to measure and have one built. Just antsy to do some winter garage work, this is about the last chassis / driveline project. Or should I wait until the body is on and suspension is weighted?

Won't change much with the light weight of a 55. Roy could measure his for you or I could measure a 54, which I think is the same.

if available locally, get a 55-7 chevy pass car driveshaft and have the local machine shop shorten it for you. no problem measuring for driveshaft length without weight of body etc on the frame. mike

you have a longer tailshaft PG so measuring a 53 to 55 which are all the same is no good, and you need to have the longer front input yoke.
