I just got back from picking up my bidder's packet from the Barrett-Jackson. Ford has now replaced Chrysler as primary automotive sponser. GM is also involved, but Westworld is absoulutely covered with blue ovals. My prediction..... Record auction prices for Shelby's, Mustangs, T-Birds etc. And Hemi's hold stable. Eric

Re: Barrett-Jackson will set new Ford records
Eric.....agree that new records will be set for the Shelby's and maybe the Mustangs, but don't think that Ford is going to take the show. People have gone into the ozone with the Hemi cars and I think you will see record prices on the Hemi Clones as well. In fact, anything that is a clone, or should I be "BJ politically correct" "RE-CREATION" will be in record territory. They paid more for the clones last year than the true numbers cars the year before!! See you there! Think I'll wear a Red Ferrari hat and a red shirt....maybe I can confuse the press!!

Re: That's a good one..
Keep in mind it's a 2004 one owner, sweatband documented, numbers matching, one of, brim off restored, re-creation, tribute, clone, one size fits all,Ferrari BASEBALL cap and has ONLY been worn at the coveted Barrett-Jackson Auction. Now that's a colletor item in itself!!!Blows Roy's bubble top out!!! (Just kidding Roy!)

Does anybody really care?
Barrett/Jackson is just living proof that lots of people have nothing better to do with there money. Anytime you put alcohol, T.V. exposure, and 15 seconds of fame together there will be people who will spend way more money than they should. Why do you think more and more fundraisers and auctions for charity events are centered around alcohol?
I used to like to watch it just to see the cars, but after realizing that they really play favorites out there I won't give them or the sponsors my time anymore. Just my old senile two cents worth!

Re: Does anybody really care?
Terry, I agree on some levels and I would not travel to see it, but it litteraly 4 miles from my house so I tend to go to watch the show. ANd I know many of us will be watching on SPEED. It at times is a train wreck, but it is much more entertaining then many other events. Been going to it since I moved to AZ back in 1981 and I see many old NCRS friends their while walking around. There are often some deals to be had, but they are usually on off days for off cars with little big bang signifigance. We bought our 54 and 53 there in 1993 and got a very good deal. Eric- Top

Re: Barrett-Jackson will set new Ford records
I am going to take the other side of this bet and say that the clones of any brand will not bring record prices. This is the year for people to wake up and realize what they are buying.
I missed the last one, but I'll be heading back to Barrett this year to enjoy the sun, the fun, and a few good cigars.
