I am under the impression from looking at some cars that the body build date and the birthday (VIN) date are the same day or one day apart on St.Loius cars. And the AO Smith cars are about a week to 10 days before the birthdate. Is that pretty standard? Also, is there any original cases where a St. Louis car had a body build date aa week before its birthday?

From what I understand, your comments are correct. Cars at St Louis would not sit around for any length of time as thre simply wasn't any storage space. For a car to have that long of a delay would have meant something was seriously wrong with either the body (feel off a dolly, bad batch of paint found after the body was finished, etc.) or the plant (strike, planned holiday or maintenance shut-down, etc.)

This is based on my yeoman's understanding, so I hope it helps. Perhaps John Hinckley will clarify.
