I was wondering if anyone else received their Driveline today. I feel so lucky to receive it this early. Oh, wait a minute... look at the date,it's the Nov-Dec issue. Thats not too bad, it was in super nice condition even if it was TWO months late. You've just got to love the Third class mailing system. I guess I can expect this month's in March. Jerry 3179

Re: Bitch, bitch, bitch...
I'd settle for 1st Class mailing. I know that's been discussed many times so it's a mute subject. At this point, I really don't give a flip. I still enjoy the Restorer and it doesn't matter if its late as long as it comes. If it took an increase in dues to get the Driveline on time so be it. I know thats impossible, been discussed, hashed out, never happen. Jerry Murphy 3179- Top

Re: Bitch, bitch, bitch...
Don't you people understand that this is being run by volunteers and is very hard work. Behind the sceens I understand that people are worikng very hard to solve this complex sitiuation. Of course none of them, will ever write a contributing post to the discussion, except Roy, and then it's usually a warning about descent. I understand they are just to busy and have no time to respond to the questions poised on this forum whether it be technical or organizational.

Re: Bitch, bitch, bitch...
Let me tell you the way I see this. Once Eric sets up the Driveline and proof reads etc, etc he probably sends it to the printer whom I would guess are not NCRS Volunteers. From there they label and send them to the post office. OK: here is where the Driveline slows down to a very slow pace. Now, lets go back to the Printer; we left all the NCRS volunteers way back up the road. If we payed for 1st Class postage I'm sure it would leave the printers with 1st class labels and you would receive it in a reasonable time. I receive it LATE not some of the time, but every time. I know this is a volunteer run club, but, if I have the sequence wrong once it leaves Eric and goes to the printer, I would like to hear the way it really works. I'm talking about a hard copy of the Driveline not an on-line copy. So if the volunteers label the copies and not the printer I don't think it's going to take more volunteer's to label them with a 1st Class label. This is not a new problem, it's a very old one. I think it can be solved by mailing the Driveline 1st Class and I also don't think it's not going to take anymore Volunteers. Jerry- Top

Re: Bitch, bitch, bitch...
Kevin,
This situtation has gone on too long. I agree with Jerry Murphy first class mailing of the Driveline should be an option. I also strongly believe all members who advertise in the Driveline should be required to price their merchandise or services. I have campaigned this cause for over 10 years. How complex can it be for a change in policy? By the way, the NCRS does have paid employees and I believe the editors of our publications are among them.- Top

Most NCRS members are like me.
Simple, one-celled geezers who don't want no damn modern conveniences like First Class mail. And, BY GOD, IF ANYBODY TRIES TO CHANGE ANYTHING IN MY LIFE... (snort)... THEY'LL GET THE BACK SIDE O' MY CANE!
Where's my damn walker? Who took my oatmeal?
Oh well. Time for my nap.- Top

What a ripoff?
Thirty Five Bux and I want my say!
Actually I think it’s quite a value for the dollar. The $35 NCRS membership gets 6 issues of a paper Corvette magazine and 6 issues of a magazine with advertisements. I think that fund may also subsidize the free NCRS web site. But the latter is free for any and all to use.
Just compare that value to the Corvette alternatives:
CF free website for all to all to use, or pay and get special privledges like hosting pictures.
CACA free website or pay and get special privledges like advertising your extra parts.
DV free website or pay and get special privledges like hosting pictures.
VH free web site or pay and get special privledges to say so.
Whoopppeee. Dollar for dollar I pee my pants when I consider this club alternatives. Just think how well spent that $35 is compared with the dearth of alternatives. I am still awaiting news of when these other NCRS alternatives will be publishing their bi-monthly Restorer Magazines.
There are so many places to advertise today on the internet; what difference does it make if this one is not a party to that deluge? Do you think buying from a member here carries anymore guarantee that buying from BoBo on the HoHo web site? Jeeze I didn’t get to buy that rare artifact, because JoJo got his book sooner than me. Life is so unequal. Can’t we have parity like in the NFL or North Korea? Maybe I’ll just move closer to where they mail them.
Why don’t we have movies? How about free birthday notification? Free hot buns and coffee? Hookers? Yeah. Lets be everthing to everybody. Life is so unfair. Wish I was in Darfour, Mogadishu, Baghdad or Ole Town having cheese with my whine.

PS If you run your own business, everyone will provide you with their thoughts how its should be run it differently – their way. I paid my $35 so I’m entitled to tell you what to do and where to do it. Now jump.- Top

Re: Most NCRS members are like me.
Hi Jerry, I agree with you. We don't like change. One of the reasons my wife left me though. Said I didn't like change. But she sure liked the change. Anyhow 1st class mailing option or priority mail like I used to get with HMN would be nice. Although not for me as I seldom read the ads anyhow. Love "the Restorer" though. Tired of reading ads for parts for sale my entire life. Don't need anything but time to work. Would rather chat on the DB than work anymore. Keeps me from being so lonely. John- Top

Another failed joke. I should quit trying.
Margaret always tells me: "Don't try to be funny". And yet I still try.
I've known Jerry Murphy, Kevin Muldoon, and Rick Gower for a spell now. I'm sure they've heard my rants many times about wanting an on-line Driveline or at least a First Class mailing. That's why I didn't repeat my standard lecture in support of their posts. Instead I tried to be funny by impersonating the "enemy", those who don't want the NCRS to speed up the Driveline distribution.
Wait a minute... I just remembered a better one. Have you heard about the Purina Diet?- Top

Re: What a ripoff?
Then there is the top down management style. The top is omniscient and omnipotent. The unwashed masses get what they need and not what they want!
It's quite simple - they do not know what they need so we, their self annointed leaders, cloaked under the guise of volunteerism, will TELL them what they get. ( Can you say dictator? )
It always starts with good intentions and then the protection of the power base takes precedence over all else
Ralph Waldo Emerson said it best " A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds."
The louder the protests, the closer to the nerve. Let the flaming begin.- Top
