75-76 seems to be the break point when the factory moved the trim tag station to a location between paint booth 1 and paint booth 2. So we will see late model C3s with paint on trim tags...but no primer. Usually flakes off without much effort.
The Trim Tag on our Jan. built '75 is painted,original paint on car. The J.G. says for '75 the tag was attached between the first and second coats of paint and "In general, most 1975 plates are well covered with body color paint." Not to say that our's didn't have to be touched-up, which I understand wasn't unusual.
