67 SB w/o AC battery cables

The positive cable I received from Lectric Limited has the numbers "6286180" on it. The negative cable has nothing printed in it. The judging guide says the positive cable should have "6286182" on it and the negative cable should have "2979821" . Lectric Limited says the juging guide is incorrect.

Which is correct, the guide or Lectric Limited?

Randy,

The 6286180 and 2979821 would be the correct part numbers for the cables for your car. The part numbers would likely be printed on service replacement parts but I don't know if either would have been on assy line parts.

Standard Positive cable #628180
Standard negative cable #2981079 (Connects on Passenger side of engine)

Big Block Positive cable #6286182
Big Block Negative cable #2979821 (Connects on Passenger side of engine)

Positive cable #6286181
Negative cable #2979821 (Connects on driver side of engine)

You don't have the latest updated 4th Edition of the '67 JG (with the yellow update pages); became available a year ago. The JG now has the cable part number corrected - matches the Lectric Limited description.

Thank you for the reply. I have the fourth edition with a red cover. I didn't know existing editions were updated. Do you know how we are informed of updates?

When the updated 4th edition became available, it was shown in the NCRS store ad in the "Driveline" as "NEW Updated 4th Edition..(Red cover)..." - see the ad on page 103 of the current November/December 2006 issue. If you look at that ad each issue, you'll see which editions are "NEW".
