Mice...How to get rid of the smell???

Anyone know of a good product that will eliminate or reduce the smell from mice living inside the car? I know that the carpets, seats and headliner will have to be replaced, but is there a product, maybe a bleach based product that can be used to wash the surfaces of the interior to get rid of the smell?

    Thanks,

Try Fabreeze in the spray can, also hang a couple of dryer sheets in the car. Another way is to buy a small ozone generator. Most big cigar outlets have them, they plug into the cigarette lighter, cost about twenty bucks and actually work. Loaned mine to a friend who spilled a considerable amount of gas in the back of his Tahoe. A week later no more smell. If you can't find one e-mail me and I'll look up the website where I buy mine.

            Re: YES!

I work at a Mercedes Benz dealership and we have had some clients that store vehicles for extended periods with the same mouse infestation concern. We have had the best success with total contaminated material removal and thorough bleach cleaning of the chassis areas affected. Ozone typically will remove odors but if you park the car in the sun on a hot day you may get your "tuna boat bathroom" odor back. There is also a product available called urine-off that is a enzyme removal chemical. I do not have any personal experience with it but the results I have heard have been favorable.

Try a local pet store. The enzyme is available in gallon jugs and the little critters eat the urine and thus the smell.

GM has an odor eliminator spray part number 12378554 you may want to try before changing the carpet or headliner if they are in otherwise good shape.
                From the service manual:
                Vehicle Odor Elimination
General Motors offers a product that may control or eliminate odors in the interior and luggage compartment areas of GM vehicles. GM Vehicle Care Odor Eliminator is a non-toxic, biodegradable odor remover. This odorless product has been shown to greatly reduce or remove objectionable smells of mold and mildew resulting from vehicle water leaks (as well as customer created odors, i.e. smoke). You may use GM Vehicle Care Odor Eliminator on fabrics, vinyl, leather, carpet and sound deadening materials. It may also be induced into HVAC modules and instrument panel ducts (for the control of non-bacterial related odors).
