    Bridgehampton Blue

    Juliet,

As a fellow Bridgehampton Blue owner, which brand of paint did you use, and do you have the current number of the color (assuming it may have changed in the last 30 years)?

      Re: Bridgehampton Blue

Ive seen lcquer go bad in 2 weeks and ive seen it last 15 years. keep it closed ,dont peek. and make sure the mixing colors are good. if they are bad your paint wont last long. the best matches ive found are dupont. they still use the correct metallic. most urethanes use to course of a metallic. the secret to a long lasting lacqure job is the less is best approach.you dont need a lot of meterial. Its kind of like chrome plating the body should be as good and smooth as possible before any primer or paint is applied. if you let your primer do the work your in trouble. last but not least its all a game. you fool the judge you win. but if you get caught dont go crying to the team leader.

Re: Sebring Silver was extra in 63

If I'm following this thread correctly and the paint formula's the same, why was there an extra charge for Sebring Silver in 63? Regards Larry

Re: Sebring Silver was extra in 63

Beats me, but I don't think any of this has to do with my question about Bridgehampton Blue numbers and supplier.

Seems the ghost of the old NDB put Bill's post in the wrong place.

Gee. I screwed up... didn't mean to mislead ya...

                Patrick,

Sorry for the delay gettin back to you on this. It's finals week, so I'm only taking a quick online play-break tonight before I hit the books again...

I think I might have mislead you... unintentionally. It wasn't until I dug out the paint can that I realized I did not put lacqueur on the car. Eeek. OK, well it still matches perfectly. The guy who did the body work for me picked it up. Originally I was planning on taking the car to this place to get it color matched in lacquer (still available in MD), but he got done with the body work early so I didn't get a chance to drive over to the Eastern shore to get the lacquer. Instead he picked it up where he usually gets his paint. (He does body work on NCRS / Bloom&(@#*^ cars as a side biz). He gave them the Bridgehampton Blue #979 from my trim tag. The car was repainted by the original owner (orig color fortunately). It was a ****ty repaint. Worst part of the car actually. Anyways, the new paint matched the old repainted stuff extremely well. Undetectable actually unless you REALLY hunt for it.

Sorry for the confusion on that. I didn't mean to goof that up quite that badly!

Not sure if you want more info, but anyways since I have the can sitting here, here's what's on the label:

DuPont Acrylic Enamel Centari For Industrial Use only. Not for sale or use by the general public. :P

One computer printed label says: VOC-LE: 4.7 VOC-AP: 4.7 Cust: counter X XXXX (don't think you need the guy;s account #) 5132A H Alt:1 Lead-Free Car; General Motors Corp Code 979 Yr: 1970 Color: Bridgehampton Blue Use Centari single stage label Metallic / iridescent content > 5 grams / liter Mixed by Mattos, Inc 2/19/00

The other label reads: Tinting Guide: Mix Size (QUart) 958S Drier 44.0 742A Blue Green 58.0 705A Black (HS) 144.3 710A Med Alum 301.6 721A Blue (HS) 879.6

                VOC-LE: 4.7 VOC-AP: 4.7

OK, whatever use that is. Sorry about the mix-up. Glad I've been set straight on this! ~Juliet
