Is the cross shaft painted black or silver, or is it zinc plated?

Are the 2 arms on the cross shaft painted or plated. and if painted, what color.

All of the 63-82 cross shafts were hot dip galvanized. This included both the tube section of the assembly as well as the lever arms welded to either end of the tube. No paint, at all, was used, although I suppose that, in some cases, some chassis blackout paint might have "wandered over that way".
