    '55 distributor

I took apart my distributor to clean and rebuild. The oiler tube with the felt wick was a solid mass, had to pick it out with dental tools... Anyone know of a suitable felt or other material to replace the wick?

Also, the orginal pin that holds the drive gear to the shaft was solid, all I see are roll pin repalcements. Any souces? Or make my own out of stock? The ends of my pin were peened, will a roll pin stay in place without peening?

    Thx in advance.

          Re: Oil tube?

David, my engine is a passenger car 265 V8, so maybe the distributor is different. I have a tube with an L bend in it that has an oiler cap on top of it. The threaded end screws into the base of the distributor. The wick is inside the tube and runs into the distributor base to oil the shaft bushing.

            Mike-----

If it were me, I'd use the roll pin. In my opinion, the roll pin is a better retainer for the drive gear than a solid pin. At the very least, it's the equal of the solid pin.
