I want to drill out the large emblem hole on my jig front clip. Anyone been through this, is one way easier than another? I was going to get a large hole saw 4 7/8"? and cut it out? Any suggestions or special tools?

Re: 60 new front clip, drilling large emblem hole?
Sir, I find that one of the best tools to have is a dremel tool. I can work it at high speed or low speed depending on my needs and I have a lot of control over it. Very handy tool. I would not use a hole saw. I would however make an exact template out of paper or masking tape. I would put it on the car and then carefully take a razor blade or similar and scribe an outline of the pattern I wanted. Then, I would look at it for a couple days to make sure it IS exactly what I want and where I want it, etc. There is no turning back. Then I would take a 3/16 inch burr (approximate size) and cut out the piece that needs to be removed. I would only come close to the scribe line. Then, I would attach a small sanding mandrel to the dremel tool and carefully creep up on the scribe line. The should end up with a very clean cut out. Good luck, Terry- Top

Thanks Terry, I know to some this may be routine, but I am concerened about the cut because any wrong move is highly seen.- Top

I agree. The dremel tool or similar tool will probably let you have the most control. It won't stick or grab or splinter the fiber glass or shake the front end to death. Been there and done that. Terry- Top
