I need help. I have an early 61 (9/60), with the base engine, WCFB Carter. When I got the car it had a Holley and an aluminum manifold. I found the correct manifold and carb. I went to connect the carb. spring to the oil filler tube, but it is in line with the water outlet, and cannot attach to the carb. The Complete Corvette Restoration guide says, "the accelerator return spring was connected to the carb. linkage in the rear and to bracket on the oil filler tube." I am confused. It says after 12/61, the spirng was attached to a metal plate attached to the water outlet. When I look in the magazines, they list this bracket 58-62. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks. Re: Carb. return spring.
Joe, I own a '60 with the base engine and am sitting here with John Mazach, who owns a dual 4 carb. '61. The bracket you refer to is the same on both our cars, but on the base engine '60, it's on the bolt to the thermostat housing. On John's '61, the same bracket is mounted on the intake manifold bolts, one for each carb. Neither has a bracket on the oil filler tube. Dave- Top
