Re: Green '69 435 from Texas in 80's

I am in Texas but can't remember a green car. I have 4 "CY" tranny cars and can tell you they were not available on a 400hp. What is the rear end code? 2 of mine are 336. Do you have the M-40 SN or date?

Re: Green '69 435 from Texas in 80's

I don't have either SN or date on trans at my easy reach. The car is packed in my building, buried behind and between several others that won't run. The only thing I recall for sure is that I found the VIN number sequence of the car stamped on the transmission and found the CY tag. The rear end code is AU and the only reason I remember it is that AU is the symbol for gold on the atomic chart and two of my other '69's are gold. Most everything I've read over the years says the CY was available on solid lifter motors ONLY as were the AU axle codes. There was a lot about this car that seemed unmolested, so the extra holes in the core support and the replacement gas tank on an undamaged car are puzzling to say the least. I can't find any signs of an added on air cond. unit ever being added, or an aux. oil or trans cooler, so why holes in the radiator support, and why on earth in the rear compartment??? The burgundy color was one repaint OVER the original Fathom Green paint with NO primer in between. Seems like the name of the car lot I traced it back to was Auto Ranch or something close, but I can't remember the town in Tx. and the state DMV said their records were purged, so no help there.

My 336 cars are CAX, this is shown only for late cars but this is incorrect for auto cars. Hope you find the data you are looking for. If you have a title I can possibly help find other owners,
      thanks RDR

I sent you an E if it goes through.

I'd have thought the three digit codes on the rear were for '70 serial numbered cars only. Did they do the '69's that way after the strike?

They must have done it all or most of the year, I have a december car that is 336 "1AX". I did a survey years ago and there are lots of them out there
