Yes we were all young and dumb once. If we had kept some of the cars and other collectables we had growing up we would all be rich. But hey what fun would that be. At least you saved one from destruction, if we could all do that the hobby would live a lot longer.

    Re: BJ vs NCRS

and this is my current dilemna!!!

Should I continue with my first body off restoration on a 1957 corvette that I am 500 plus hours into towards NCRS FLIGHT judging or curve that though and begin to just prep it as an amazingly well restored car with correct block. I don't have any documentation on the car, and I think the engine and tranny are original to the car, but can't prove it. It was a real red on red car based on the paint I removed, and according to the drive-train it was a 270 horse dual quad 3spd car with a 4:11 to 1

Hot Rod, or NCRS TOP FLIGHT, or can you do both?

My intentions upon completion are to get my money back out plus profit so I can restore another Corvette of mine. Is there more profit in going TOP FLIGHT, or HOT RODDING this particular car?

    thanks,
    Jacob

      Re: BJ vs NCRS

Jacob, please don't turn your 1957 Corvette into a HOTROD. A red/red, 270-horse 1957 Corvette is one of the all-time greats. Don't be concerned that you have no "documentation" for it - 1957's did not have tank sheets nor even build sheets that can be found under the dash like later years. The fact that it is a 1957 Corvette is, to most folks, "enough said". Asking if there is more "profit" in going Top Flight or Hot Rodding a 1957 Corvette is the wrong kind of question to be asking folks on this board. In my humble opinion, to Hot Rod your 1957 Corvette just in order to gain the highest profit (not that it would, anyway) just ain't morally right.

            Alan,

Thanks for the pep talk... I appreciate the points you made. Extremely well stated!

I always thought that a red on red 270 horse 57 was a special car too...
I guess I just didn't know if my current lack of documentation had that much weight on a 57.

            No more Hot Rod talk

            Thanks again,
