I have a set of 4, P02's that I bought at a swap meet. The gentleman from whom I purchased them thought they were off a '68. I have heard that P02's were unique in '68 and '69 thru '73 (or 74?) were all the same. These look just like the deluxe wheel covers on my '71. Can anyone tell me how a '68's P02 covers were different? What detail should I look for?

Re: P02 Deluxe wheel covers
Paul,
Since no responses were posted, I'll take a stab at answering your question.
The photo below is of a '69 PO2 wheel cover center area. (Please excuse the 30+ years of dust.) Note that the fins extend to the emblem concentric trim. Some say that the fins appear to dissolve into a flat chrome area before they reach the emblem area. From what I've read in Rick Bizocco's book, on PO1 wheel covers which were available in 1968, the center emblem does not protrude as far out as on the PO2. Since my copy of Rick's book is unavailable right now, I don't remember if there are pictures of PO1 wheel covers to compare with PO2. The Corvette Black Book has pictures of cars with optional wheel covers on '68, '72 & '73 models. The '72 shows a good profile shot of a PO2.
Perhaps someone more knowledgeable will chime in with more understandable descriptions of the wheel cover differences.
