    79 RPO ZQ2

Was there some point in time during the assembly of MY 79 that the RPO ZQ2 replaced the separate options of power windows & power door locks? I've determined all the options on my '79, only this one puzzles me, I have both the power windows & door locks. Separate options or the ZQ2 option?

Yes, the tank sticker is still there and in pretty good shape so to see, but I haven't had the guts to lower the tank and get it...

    Re: 79 RPO ZQ2

Henri, The ZQ2 was called the "Convenience Package" which combined the power window option (A31) and the power door locks (AU3) into one option. This is in addition to the ZX2 option called the "Convenience Group", which probably consisted of who knows what.

      ZQ2 or ZX2, that's the question!

      Hello Bob,

Do you mean the ZQ2 was part of the ZX2 option? In other words, check ZX2 on the order list and it automatically included ZQ2?

From memory, the Black Book states the convenience group (ZX2) also added the underhood light and a lot of warning signals for leaving the headlights on, key in ignition while leaving the car and seatbelt warning buzzer... Am I correct? Have them all on my Vette...

And didn't this RPO became standard equipment during the MY build year? Or was that the tilt/tele and other stuff... (I have to bring the Black Book to work, so I can check my facts!)

      Thanks for your reply!

        Re: ZQ2 or ZX2,

Henri, They are TWO separate RPO#s, Two separate options.(ZQ2&ZX2) It's real nice having you on the board, all the way from the Netherlands! I'll bet you get a lot of looks driving that Vette over there. How much is the Gasoline?Do you get together with any other Corvette people? Later, Bob

          Introduction, kinda

          Hi Bob,

Yes, lotsa looks while driving around in a Vette! I'm a board member (?) of the Heartbeat Corvette Club (www.heartbeatcorvette.nl) which has over 450 members. About 90% of them owns one or more Vettes. They range from '54 to '99. There are '00 models in Holland, but not in our club (yet). The quality of the Vettes ranges from NCRS quality restorations and survivors (!!!) to average, daily drivers to 'parts cars' as I call them

We are a very active club with six meetings per year that draw an average 100 Vettes per meeting. We kicked off 2000 really good with 220 Vettes!!!

Gasoline prices... Well, ur, hmm... how about US $ 1,17 PER LITER!!! (you can do the gallon conversion)

Parts are quite easy to obtain, there are several Corvette specialized shops here in the Netherlands. Although they know how to calculate the prices...

I've fullfilled a life long dream (started at the age of 12, now I'm 32) by buying my '79 four years ago. I've done some intensive renovation as I call it, all the suspension parts that wear out are replaced and everything is painted (the correct colors!) again. I have a new engine block (bummer, there goes #'s matching) and a complete new cooling system. I restored the interior two winters ago (doeskin). Yes, it's almost a 'like new' Vette.

Been to the NCM's 5th anniv party last year. Caravanned in a borrowed '98 from Detroit to BG!!!

I'm glad to have found this site! Lotsa very usable info for a 'far away' Corvette nut!

          Greetings,

          Henri Kroeze, the Netherlands.

            (1.17/.946)4 = $4.95 per gallon.....

... and Americans driving Stupid Ugly Vehicles with one hand on the wheel (maybe), a cell phone in the other, and their brain in la-la land whine like their spoiled kids when our price hits two bucks a gallon!

Duke --- Henri's only paying $4.43/gal (1.17 x 0.946 x 4); but he'll soon be paying $ 4.95, 'cause the Saudi oil minister said, yesterday, he sees no reason to increase production at the June 21 meeting of OPEC.

Up here, in oil-rich Alberta, we're now paying $ CDN 0.615/litre, which translates into $ US 1.55/gal US. If one of my cars was ready, I would have considered the NCRS Tahoe event; it wasn't a weather forecast I needed, but rather the gasoline prices along the route.

                "Rocket scientist" admits screwup, satellite...

lost due to metric/English conversion error. Yeah, Wayne, I screwed up the math. JPL did the same thing and lost a Mars mission a few months ago, so I'm in good company. BTW, JPL could use a bright guy like you to keep this metric/English conversion thing straight. Need a new job?

In any event, we North Americans are in fat city no matter what OPEC does compared to the rest of the industrialized world. I just needed to vent a little. Sorry you won't make it to Tahoe. How about Scottsdale next year?
