    Rear End Date Code

    Hello,
I have a 1962, 300 HP, Automatic, the build date of the car is appeox. Nov. 16, 1961 my question is what should the approx date code be on the rear end center housing be to be correct for this car? Also is there any way to know if the car had a posi or standard rear end from the beginning?
Thank You in advance for your help.

I'll try to help you. Usually the rule of thumb is 6 months prior to build date. Of course the day before would be a little unlikely cause of shipping time. I would think any time in October and back 5 months. There is a way to tell, assuming you have the original rear end housing, check the archives for a post by Roy Braatz about Banjos. If you can't find it or the picture has been deleted, e-mail me and I will send it to you.
