1957 RADIO DELETE SPEAKER BLOCK OFF PLATE

Does anyone know if the block off plate for the speaker for my 1957 radio delete car was made of steal or cardboard?

My car still has the speaker block off plate in place never touched. I can send you picture. I would like a picture of your heater delete plate as my heater delete plate was removed later in life and a heater added.

      I will check the knobs.

i believe the 57 vette radio block off plate was die-cast pot metal and the pass car 57's were stamped steel. what i'm not sure of is whether or not two designs of the pot metal piece existed(i believe they did) and the configuration of the embossment on the two plates(one with strictly a horizontal rib that traversed nearly 90% of the width of the potmetal plate and on the other design with both horzontal and verticle embossments. that is , what was ist desing and what was 2nd design. what is real tough to acquire is the pair of mushroom-shaped washers that were utuilized to secure the plate on the dash.lets have some pictures posted.mike

            Mike,
I have a few of these plates and thought that the die cast plates were repos. Now how do I tell a real one from a repo? Rich

the die cast plate i'm looking at has the part #, 3706910, along with a mfg's logo(KD within a circle), cast into the potmetal on the back side of the plate.mike

                Mike,
I have one die cast (straight line) plate and it does not have any part numbers or logo on it. Must be a repo. I also have three stamped steel that mount over a studded steel backplate. Two are straight line and one is a star pattern. Non have part number or manufacturers logo but I'm pretty positive they're real. Rich
