1970 Oil Pressure Guage Rebuild (LT-1)

I need to have my oil pressure guage rebuilt/calibrated. I am looking for suggestions as to vendors that do this type of work. I know about Corvette Specialties (don't wwant to use them) and see that many of the Corvette parts suppliers offer this type of service, but the parts suppliers probably outsource the service. I would like to deal directly with someone who is the one rebuilding the guage.

Is your guage just not registering? If so, you may be able to take a small amount of penetrating oil, a drop on the pivots in the guage and free it up. If so, then add a small drop of something like thin gun oil to each pivot and it should work for years to come

Dick,

The gauge was rebuilt about a year ago. It registers zero at idle, but higher when running the RPM's up. The oil pressure in the engine (rebuilt) is Ok, because it was checked with a different gauge and the car has been driven. I think it just needs to be calibrated or the needle is not indexed properly.

George the tube thats in side your indicator has a curved tube in it. Sometimes deposits build up inside and prevent oil to make it all the way to the end when pressure is on the tube it tries to straighten out which moves the needle. You could try to clean it with solvents or in an ultra sound tank if you do this or you have someone does it for you before you reinstall it fill the gauge tube with a very light oil like 3 in one or similer the thinner oil allows a quicker movement of the gauge over a wider range of temp.
