seat frames 1971

Question concerning lower seat frame . first lower seat frame is shaped like a U channel . The inside of channel where the s springs are attached is bent out towards the center of seat .Is this normal or did a 400lb person sit in the seat?

Bair's Corvette sells a metal repair section for the rear of the seat so it must be common.

my seats are not damaged on the back side but the inside rails are bent outwards is this common and does any one know the best fix
