    C2 64FI/TI Distributor Finish

Have a Mar 23,64 car, FI with K66 (transitor) ignition. This seems to have been one of the early K66, since Noland Adams mentions the 064 unit was not called for until 3-19-64, however the build date on distributor is 4A6, Jan 6, 1964.

I'm cleaning the unit now and finding black paint left, from below cap area to where it enters the block. No indication of orange or silver paint on unit. Since this was an early K66 unit could it have been painted black and just did not get any over spray on it?

Does one expect to see some over spray, silver, on the lower exposed end of distributor?

And have any black ones been seen out there??

    Thanks
    Alan

Alan Yours is really an early unit. Here's an eBay purchase from a 365hp '64 that shows silver near the vac. can (looks like white in the pic) and a bit around the shaft flange that seats on the gasket to the intake.

There is also mostly black paint on the distr. cast iron body between the manifold flange and the flange that seats into the distrib.cap. Note the 1/4" bit of black paint to the left of the slot that the cap indexes in.

On the other side facing the brass tach drive fitting and looking up to the underside of the cap flange, there is evidence of orange paint. [could send you a pic if you want].
