    Repro Battery

I've been thinking about getting a repro battery for my 70 to use only during NCRS judging. I see that Paragon, for example, sells the reproduction batteries. However, I've heard that the batteries ship without acid (not surprising).

What kind of special acid goes into one of these batteries and where is it purchased (hardware store, automotive store, dealership)?

    Thanks.

Here in Maryland, you can buy battery acid (sulfuric) at most large auto parts stores. Comes in one of those containers like jug wine...has a hose that pulls out of a box. Cheap too. Hope this helps. Chuck

      Hi Evan:

Most heavy truck and equipment service facilities have battery acid in bulk and will fill for you inexpensively.

Evan evidently you have never bought a motorcycle battery. For as long as I can remember they come with a container of acid that must be added by the installer or owner. The reason for this Delco coming without it is because it would have to be shipped and during shipment if it was put on its side or upside down the acid would drain. I would think that the reproduction Delco would be shipped with a leakprood sealed container of acid that you would have to install and then "slow" charge the battery for a few hours.

A much better source for the battery is Tom at Restoration Battery in Cincinnati. He is an NCRS memember and the most knowledgeable on batteries that I have found. Just purchased my fourth battery from him. Why not buy from a real person instead of a order taker and save money in the process
