    67 fuel pump, 6E40433??

I have a fuel pump which, I think is for a 67 327/350hp car. The #'s on the side flange are (6E40433) is this the correct fuel pump? The jg manual on page 79 calls for the #'s 6440433, so that is where 6E40433 confuses me. thanks for anyones help.

6E soulds like a date, when was your car built? I bet it's an original pump.

The 6E is an internal tracking code used by AC, which may indicate the date and/or the assembly line. It is always a two-character alpha numeric code, but a wide range of codes appear on original fuel pumps.

The remaining digits 40433 are the AC part number. This would be correct for a 1967 327/300 or 327/350 engine. The 6440433 number listed in the JG is the GM part number, but only the AC part number was stamped on the pump.

These pumps have the lower housing crimped on, so they are not easy to rebuild. Goat Hill Classics rebuilds them, but check the archives for comments from customers before you decide to use Goat Hill. I don't know if anyone else rebuilds this style of pump.

My pump came from paragon as a replacement, I was just concerned the "6E" will be questioned during judging?

As far as I know, *all* 1967 40433 fuel pumps had a 2-character prefix that is believed to be some sort of internal manufacturing tracking code used by AC. I think the number on your fuel pump is correct for NCRS judging, but perhaps others on this board will disagree.

            Bill,

The picture below is my original 67 40433 fuel pump, reburbed with the innards of a replacement and recrimped. The bottom was replated

The numbers on my original are PO40433. The first two letters are a control or vender code as Joe says and vary on originals.

The 40433 is pretty rare as a replacement, didn't know Paragon was repro-ing them.

It you have the AC on the sides and 40433, I would think you will be OK even though the JG says 64 for the first 2 digits.

Thanks, everyone, I am going with my "6E" from paragon. They have this listed in their 2006 c2 catalog for $150.

                Bill-----

You will NEVER find a pump with the full GM part number stamped on it. Only the AC type number (the last 5 digits of the full GM long number for the PRODUCTION pump) will be found on the pump. As others have stated, the preceding characters are some sort of manufacturing code and, as far as I know, have no relevance, at all, as far as judging is concerned.
