    C3 (72) Capret

    Hi all,
Dose anr one now of a carpet manufacture that makes the cut out for the hinges in the rear for the convertable top deck lid.
I called two places. One told me I had to do it my self. The other told me that there were 3 diferant styls.
Could any one shed some light on this for me?
    Thank you,
    Rob

Don't ask me why this aspect of convertible rear carpet isn't duplicated by those in the repro carpet business, but I've not see a source that does do it right...

Basically, those who are serious about their restorationis do the task themselves by laying the repro rear wall carpet over the original they've removed and trace the outline of the upper/outer corners. Original carpets are known to drop from the straight upper edge to duck under and clear the deck lid hinges.

You cut the stitching on the outer binder vinyl, remove the excess material to make the outer upper edge route below the hinge and then re-stitch the binder back onto the carpet. It's a pretty simple task.

If you don't have the original rear wall carpet to use as a template, you can 'eyeball' the job by laying the carpet in the car. That'll probably get you full credit on the judging field as most interior judges who know simply look for the upper edge of the rear wall carpet NOT to be cut straight across...

I agree with Jack. I would also like to say the next time I put in carpet it will come from Al Knoch.. This is to much work to use anything but..
