I was wondering if the master cylinders on a 71 power brake car are judged for date coding? Are the master cylinders date coded and if so which style of coding. I could not find anything in the judging manual.

Master cylinders are dated on the unpainted machined boss where the lines attach. The last I knew the date was checked only on Bowtie cars. The dating is very small font and is julian plus the year and the broadcast code also on some years.

It is not in the JG because the '70-'72 team made the decision that date, if even present, is so small and obscure that it is impossible to judge. Just the slightest bit of corrossion obscures the numeralsDick WhittingtonComment

some MC's were dated others not dated. I'm not sure we understand why there's a variance, plus as Dick said, the stamped characters on dated units are VERY small and difficult to read.
The '73-74 JG does define the date code and strike position. You look on the pad surrounding the front brake line:
"A single digit for the year followed by the Julian day. Ie, 2237 would be the 237th day of 1972."Comment
