C2 conv. lower windshield moulding clips

I've been looking in the archives and it seems no one makes an original lower windshield clip. I have ordered some from Corvette America but they are a replacement made in Taiwan. After reading some of the archived postings on this subject, I am afraid to use any replacements. My originals look good but I am afraid they are sprung and won't hold. I have one shot at getting it right or I sacrifice a gasket and possibly scratch my new paint. Any suggestions.

I can tell you I bought replacements from Long Island Corvette and they were bent wrong. My installer reused the old ones.

Dennis, I have discovered the trick to installing the conv lower molding without hurting the paint or beating up the molding. Install the molding before you install the gasket and windshield. I know it sounds absurd but it works, I have done it several times. This way you can insure that the molding snaps into the clips properly with out beating it in with a rubber mallet.

After you install the moulding, do you place the windshield with the rubber on between the moulding and the frame at the bottom and then pull it in from the inside with the string?
