    Re: Duke Williams

"Go to the CF and you'll be suprised at how many can't put up with his "if you disagree with me, YOU'RE WRONG" arrogant attitude. I actually don't read his replies there because of his smart azz remarks and putting other people down. Look at his reply here and his referral to "backyard hot rodders" not being as smart or as well educated. His reply is filled with "I did this, I did that, I know this, blah, blah, blah,. He may be well educated but I seriously doubt that he knows everything and is the final word on all subjects. "

The thing is Jim, when it comes to engines, Duke did do this, and he did do that. Very few others have. Duke probably is right, and others are probably wrong. If he didn't give us the background, we wouldn't know why he's an expert on the subject. He has the qualifications to back up his facts and opinions. I've never heard him proclaim to know the proper way to do a heart bypass, but if you're looking for some engine knowledge, you might want to pay attention to him.

      Re: Duke Williams

Oh wait, you can't do that anymore. He's been driven away by too many people questioning his knowledge rather than appreciating what he has shared.

I guess that means an end to the automotive industry.

        Re: Duke Williams

Actually, Dave, that was the reason Duke gave for quitting CF.

If you have posted or lurked on CF, you soon understand why he felt that way...some of those "born yesterday" morons will argue with ANYONE. It doesn't matter that they only have an opinion unsupported by training or experience.

I don't recall anyone here questioning Duke's knowledge. As I recall, Duke only made vague comments about being unhappy with the handling of the recent incident. To his credit, Duke never made a big statement about leaving...he just decided it was time to go. He'll be back somewhere to talk about cars again; he enjoys sharing what he knows with someone that can appreciate his knowledge.

We all need a sabbatical from what bugs us sometimes...there's no wisdom in believing many here are responsible for Duke's departure.

Point taken Chuck. I deleted my post about him being driven away.

            Re: Duke Williams

Maybe I should have abbreviated my previous post, but I thought going over the six years of my internet experience would be something that others could relate to.

I won't use the m-word to describe some of the CF participants, but Chuck figured it out.

Even I can't believe the venom being spewed over there, and not only are they crucifying me, but of all guys, AL GRENNING is right there next to me.

Seems that someone referenced his recent patent application and web site and the hate speech just won't end. It's utterly unbelieveable!

At least I'm in good company - me, Al, and Galileo. Don't try to advance the state of the art or knowledge on the CF or you will face The Inquistion and be burned at the stake. It's the sixteenth century over there!

                Re: C/F questions & answers

I feel no pain. I'm just amazed. The whole thing would be laughable if it wasn't so pathetic.

I understand the antipathy toward me though I'm a little surprised so much has surfaced several months after I left that forum, but Al - who has to my knowledge never posted there - and none of the bashers have ever met or talked to him...

It's a microcosm of why the world is the way it is - full of ignorance and senseless hate.

Duke, does this mean you're back???

Your knowledge is treasured here and, for those who doubt what you say, there are knowledgeable members here who will support you. Sometimes, I have no clue what you're saying, but I read your posts and try to learn.
                  I hope you have returned.

I agree, way over my head but it sure is interesting that he knows stuff about stuff that I didn't even know was stuff.

I wish I knew half of what Duke has forgotten !

I find it interesting just reading his posts. Don't always fully understand it all but still interesting.

Maybe I even be lucky to meet the man someday.

Genuinely nice to see you re-appear Duke.

I fear that it's only going to get worse before it gets better too.

We can't let this association become another C/F, so arrogent and opinionated that it drives the passion of what this group's about away.

It's 50% about the cars, and more importantly 50% about the people and the relationships we forge by our common interests that make us good friends and acquaintences.

We're only here a very short while to enjoy the drive my friends.
