    C3 68 Fuel Sender part no.

    Does anyone know the correct part number for the fuel sending unit in the gas tank of my '68 convertible? The gauge is not reading properly and I am anticipating having to replace the sender. I checked the archives but I couldn't locate the information. From other posts regarding mid-years it appears there are some cheap aftermarket units out there and I am not interested in those. I will be dropping the tank as part of a rear suspension rebuild and so this is the perfect time to address the issue. Thanks in advance.

      Michael, For 68-74, GM #6428164, about $100 from most venders. A repro is about $60. Dave

          The GM # is 6428164 with a list price of $203.98. You should be able to do a little better than list on the guage. With some of the prices I see quoted, I believe that maybe someone is reproducing it. I would stick with the AC unit

                  I just got an AC Delco for my 72 from DocRebuild for around $150.

                      Thanks, Jeff. I also saw one on GM Parts Direct for a little over $100 plus shipping. I definitely won't be going aftermarket though.
