    1966 Carb

I have an early built 1966 roadster 2588. B 29 build date (fall of 1965). It's a 300 hp 327 with no power or AC is the correct carburetor a 3367 or 3367A. The carb on it now is a 3139-1 with 0250 date code and 3874898ER. Which is the correct carb for my car, what date should I get and what's that old carb? Thanks Ed

      Re: 1966 Carb

      Ed,

The correct carb for your car is a 3367 with a date code prior to 593 (1965-September-third week). You're probably going to have a hard time finding one as your car is so early in production. There may be some dated pre-production with the first two digits 56 or 57 but look for anything dated pre-September (or 9 as second digit) in 1965.

The 3139-1 (for a 396 engine as Clem indicated) that you have is almost identical to a 3367, same choke operation, same fuel bowls, slight differences in jetting and metering bodies, but functionally the same. I have one dated 5A5 as as spare for my 67 3810. The 3139-1 is closer to a 3367 then a 3810. If you get a correct 3367, keep the 3139-1 for spare parts. Exact same fuel bowls.

If you email me, I can send a list of the interchangeable parts between a 3139-1 and 3367. Anyone would be amazed how similar these two carbs are.

        1966 Carb; early date code

        Ed,

Over recent years, I've seen 3367 carbs on e-bay with date codes of 592 and 585, so those carbs with early date codes are out there. You can expect to pay $250 +/- for an unrestored one.

Check with thecarburetorman@aol.com 732-356-4333. I purchased a very nice dated 3367 from him recently.
