    Headlight motor fasteners

Hi , Can anyone enlighten me on the fasteners on the ground wire that is attached to the headlight motor body with a small bolt. The star washer on mine is internally toothed and externally toothed. This is very unusual lock washer. Is this the correct washer. AND mine are about 9/16 inch in diameter. is this correct. I was advised that they were too large in diameter.
What is correct. Smaller diameter or internall and external teeth? Also is the small bolt a hex head bolt.

Thank you for any insight into this.

    Jack,
Yes its a recess hex bolt, 10-24 3/8. At present unable to tell you what the head marking is or the size of the lock washer. The washer (pn 178378) does have the external teeth and does look to be larger than one would expect.

In about 3 weeks I will have the motors out to clean and lub. I will check the size then, so if interested (a must know) I can email you then - let me know.

Post the part number and those members (luckly ones with book) may be able to give a discription. Note, my information is based upon a Mar64, it your 65 is early it may have used the same set up. Check your AIM in the head light section.

Sorry, its only a part of puzzle.
    Alan

Thank you Alan. My car is a may 65 car. the AIM is not very good for that kind of detail. Hopefully some one has a book that tells about the detail on fasteners.

      Again Thanks

        Jack -

That star washer is the same one used at the headlamp harness ground wire attachment on the driver's side of the radiator support, and is the same one used under the nut that secures the license lamp ground wire under the driver's side license lamp attaching screw.
