I have managed to remove the tank sticker from my '69, fairly intact and readable for 30 years of age. I have questions about some of the items: -Anyway to decode the order number? -Zone is listed as 41; anyone know which zone this is? -The first item, Ident No, doesn't correspond to the VIN; Was this used as some other kind of job control number? Any help on this subject would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Re: tank sticker *TL*
Mike,
Per an article in The Corvette Restorer, Spring 1995 - Zone 14 was headquartered in Baltimore in 1982, but became Washington (as in D.C.) by 1994.
I have no idea what the rest of the numbers mean. They likely have no meaning after 30 years.

Re: tank sticker *TL*
Sorry Mike,
It has been a long day at work and I am trying to get packed for Tahoe. For a guy who deals in numbers (the mistake of which can be life or death for someone else) that is a bad mistake on my part.
Zone 41 is Wichita Zone (closed about 1975 or 1976) according to that article.
Yes it is on the CD, at least it is on the full size CD - not sure about the mini CDs.
BTW: The CD is the best buy going for Restorer Magazines. A full set of the real ones will cost you $1200- $1500, and at that you may/may not get the first 4 issues. For the price of the real ones you can buy both the computer and the CD and still have money to spend on Corvette parts.

Re: tank sticker
Sounds good. I'll pick up a set. Saw them last year at Carlisle, but had spent all my cash on other much needed items(you know, essentials like air cleaner decals, you can never have too many) and didn't have the scratch with me. Wichita? hmmm...Do you think dealers would search for cars that far and wide in those days? I'm pretty sure the car came out of the Hartford area, so I'd be surprised, but I'm still researching the history prior to '77 STW, Mike- Top

Re: tank sticker
Thanks, as I stated I'm still trying to figure out the first 7 years of the cars life...Maybe a tornado blew it there.. It's amazing how many times and how quickly a car can actually change hands, especially now in the 'information age'(Am I dating myself?) STW, Mike- Top
