    Cast iron PG ATF

    What transmission fluids are best to run in a cast iron Powerglide? Mine is a '55 model.

      Dextron would be best, but, as Roy said, anything would work. The older style Ford type "F" fluid will make it shift a bit firmer, but that's not really a good thing on an older ci/pg. I'd stick with the Dextron III.

        IIRC...many many smelt seasons ago, I was told never to use F**d type "F" in GM tranny because it contained graphite
