I am trying to identify the carburetor on my 66 L36. The car has power steering and factoring air conditioning. Manifold numbers are correct but the carb appears to be from an A.I.R. car. Numbers are 3892341-EA . 3606.. "153"... and O-804575. Body build date is November 9, 1965. A large inlet hole on the left side base plate has been plugged. Any advice will be appreciated.

Re: 66 L36 carb

Your carburetor is, indeed, from a 1966 Corvette L-36 with Air Injection Reactor System (AIR). It's possible, of course, that your carburetor was retrofitted to your car as a replacement, which is what it sounds like you're surmising. However, it's also possible that your car is an original AIR car (California-delivered with K-19 option) which has had the AIR system removed at some point in its life. If your engine is of suffix code "IM" or "IR", then your car was originally AIR-equipped. If it's "IL" or "IQ", then the carb is a replacement.
If the carburetor is not correct for your car, don't despair. This carburetor is considerably rarer than a non-AIR carburetor. And, if it is correct for your car, be thankful that you have it and not some other replacement carb.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
