I drive a C1 vette. I'd like to be able to take it out for a drive, park it, perhaps go to a movie or shopping and make sure its there when I get back. Any ideas on the best type of security system? Would tire boot work? How about installing a gps system (Iknow all atm machines have one in them to track them if they are stolen), would a shut off switch stopping the gas from going to the engine work? Thanks in advance

a perimeter alarm is the best choice you want to stop them before they get close enough. do not get a talking one as they piss off people and do not make it to sensative where it goes off if they walk by. an ignition kill is a good back up but requires messing with the wires. you can buid an alarm in a box with a small 12 vlt barbie jeep type battery with a perimeter scensor and sit it on the floor or set under a sweat shirt or blanket. also consider one that transmitts a signal to you if it is triggered so it does not annoy people if it goes off and will also keep you from stressing out the whole time it is out of your sight. years ago clifford made one that called your cell phone, maybe it is time to reintroduce this concept. you could even tell the car what you wanted it to do such as die the next time it came to a stop and even speak with the intruder, it never took off. we also set up systems that gave a large shock if you sat on the seat but was a law suit waiting to happen.this is what i will do this summer(not the jolt) and i have sold and installed alarms for 30 plus years. -

LoJac and other GPS systems are certainly available as well as other theft deterrents but first I would make very sure what your insurance policy says about leaving the car unattended. I believe many have a clause saying the car can't be left unattended.Comment
