stamp pad database

At the last NCRS New England Regionals I heard there was some guy going around taking pictures of all the engine stamp pads. I heard he has compiled quite a database over the years. Does anybody know if this is publically available or on the Internet?

If it is who I think it is, he has and is collecting the data for his own business of verifying original engines to cars. As I understand there is a chargeable fee of about $2000 to look and verify a car. Saying that, the data is not available.

I don't think NCRS would allow the memberships cars identification data to be obtained free from it's unsolicited members on the show field for one's personal profit. It would be like selling pictures of your family without your consent and profiting from it. Not good..........

Anytime your hood is open a picture can be taken now days even with a cell phone. If your libary gets big enough you can compare what you think are real pads to serial numbers close to someones car to see if you think the stamp is correct. The picture is not sold only used to compare. The same was done with traceings before photos got so good.
