    C2/65 Vette Dash/Trim Restoration

Is the dash and trim orig. gloss or matte finished? I would also like to know if where the dash is attached to the door jamb, are the rivets unpainted? My plan is to refinish the jambs and exterior complete then install the already refinished dash gloss or matte back in the car and rivet it back in place using black rivets. Is this how it came from GM? Thank you for your help.

On a '65, the rivets are unpainted (black) if the exterior and interior color of the car match. If the colors are different, red/black for example, the fiberglass tab and the rivets were painted body color after installation. The metal trim such as the speaker grille is a matte finish

Thank you for your response. The car is a factory 396 4 speed w/air #20206. The paint code is GG (Glen Green). The interior is also green. The fiberglass portion of the dash is flat green. Is this correct or has it faded flat over time. Can I paint the interior Glen Green? My customer is paying me to make the car factory. The interior appears to be original. I found shiny paint when I removed the interior trim around the w/shield and h/liner. The portions of the trim hidden from the sun and weather were shiny green while the rest of the interior looks flat. If there any numbers or codes I can provide please let me know. Thank you.

        Gary -

If you'll go to www.autocolorlibrary.com and plug in "Chevrolet", then "1965", the second image will show you the gloss levels for the various Corvette interior components.

By the way, A/C wasn't available on the '65 396 if the objective is to make the car "factory".
