    Yes Mike, when Engineers design stuff they are confined within an envelope of design constraints. When Harley Earl authorized the creation of Corvettes one of the primary design constraints was that the cars be affordable for middle income wage earners. If you want to chuckle a bit bisect an Edlebrock performer intake as well as a 1962 396 (part #) Corvette intake. Design improvement or copy?

      On that piece, close copy. On Offy 360, new Air Gap Performers, etc. not even close except for dual plane technology. Only so many ways to skin a cat I'm afraid. STW, Mike

            Agree that not any individual could outperform a big company like GM in the design of engine components without knowledge, instruments and the like. In the resoration of old classics like early corvettes we try to follow factory specs to be in the safe side. Usually a lot of factors as the ones you mentioned are to be taken in consideration to upgrade those engines. Not an easy task.
