    Re: stupid!

Actually I have NEVEr bought a new car. Broughtup a family wher my Dad was a pilot and started as a crib mech. at P&WA. Alwayshad at least 4-6 Beaters around so one ran to get to work. i learned young what a losers game buying a new auto could be. If Gm and US economy depended on my sale they be where Ford is today. If some yahoo wants to pay 300-500K for a ride thts his ort her Chump change. Fine,Better him than me. My thought was it Pulls all cars up with it. Thus destroying any chance of the entry-level guy achieving or securing his dream. Yes i've made smart investments and could veryeasliy cash out and take a walk in the sun. But my 67 wasbought low and kept by us for the Love of the car same for the ranch. Colorado has got some issues re Int. only loans, but we are gamblers ask ANY rancher betting on our weather. So some folks did extend themselves may lose may win. More millionaires made by RE than any other vehicle. Ft Collins was recently named the Top 20 safest placetolive in America. Salida Top 10 along with Buena Vista by Money mag. Land is finite here. Thus the values. Mostly BLM and Nat. Forest. Avg. of 1K people move in to our state every week. Something in the water. Maybe cause ther isn't anything in our mnt. water. Forgive my spelling and spaces, just moved horses to anothe pasture. Not too nimble. As we look up at these 13K mnts in my backyard i thank God every day for our blessings. There s a reason we all sacrifice to live here and gamble when they drop the big ones. A country boy will survive.

My wife's family org. from Montpeiler (incorrect spelling) Wally (father law) one of 14 kids raised on dairy farm. Pretty country, makes our winters look like milk and cookies.

I agree with Mike. In the late '80s/early '90s, we had many borrowing to buy Corvettes hoping for them to climb. When the prices stopped climbing, the loans became overwhelming. Those without loans were using their savings and investment money, which suddenly disappeared as a result.

Today, that isn't the case. These people buying are buying with spare money, not loans. So if there is a drop, they will either ride it out or take a loss. But they won't lose everything as a result.

Even if the market were to drop 50%, most of these buying would never notice the difference on the cars, because while you look at them as a huge amount of money, they are apparently using a small percentage of their money to buy these cars.

It would be similar to most people I know if the $100 beater you bought today suddenly dropped in value to $50. Would it hurt you? Would you panic and sell it? Or would you even notice?
