Seems most hoods on C1's (including my 62) have rubbing marks from the air cleaner and stud. Is this kosher? Thanks.

Re: C1 air cleaner- hood clearance
Daniel,
Where is the rubbing occurring on your air cleaner? I posted a similar question a couple of months ago. I get some rubbing on the front edge of the air cleaner lid. I have the stock intake, correct carbs and what I think is an original aircleaner. My motor mounts ar less than a year old. I was told my one source that I must have the wrong aircleaner element because of the 1/8 inch gap between the top and bottom of the aircleaner, but in the phots I've seen, I think it's supposed to be this way.- Top

Re: C1 air cleaner- hood clearance
My car has been apart for so long now,I dont remember where exactly it's rubbing. Just saw a hood on ebay and saw the familiar marks. Back when I bought the car ,and knew nothing, I figured someone must have put a higher rise intake on. I've since learned that it's a correct manifold and carb. I had to use a bolt in place of the carb center stud to keep it fron hitting the hood. Will be interesting to see if new rubber mounts correct this. Thanks for the responses.- Top

Re: C1 air cleaner- hood clearance
Don't forget the aging of the front body mount below the rad core support to the frame under the Radiator. Age on this will allow the from to sag, changing the clearance of all the underhood items with relation to the frame mounted components such as the engine.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: C1 air cleaner- hood clearance
1 wrong Carb base (car thicker)
2 soft front motor mounts
3 front radiator shims ( add more) worn!
4 trans rear mount soft
5 trans rear cross member shimmed to low lowing the trans rear are causing the engine front to rise to high.
6 hood not adjusted proper
This is a few things to think about!- Top
