Since owning an LS6 in the seventies I really appeciated the larger exhaust valves. For those with HI-PER heads, square port prefs, like my L-71 with 2.19" intakes and 1.72" in the closed chamber heads. The next time I go for a 3 angle valve job I'll get my stock 1.72" exhaust valves changed over to 1.88" like the LS6 heads. It's worth the ponies and easy to do as long as you have a professional due the work. Not "Joes" fly by night and leave town in the morning shop. Just something to think of. You can get the info from the H.P.Big Block block book, "How to Hot rod Big block Chevys". Engines are pumps, the more air you can get in and the faster you can get it out the exhaust the better your engine will run.Let the motor breath. Your going to gain a minimum 15-20 hp.I've been doing it since the books sold for $5.00. Just a tid bit for the cats that want that extra edge. Like having the sun at your back and then enemies sun in his face prior to a fire fight, take advantage of these easy tricks.Go buy a book from NCRS (of course they a more expensive now) and read up.Just wanted to turn on those that think like me.grr.#33570

Those where the days,I have to mention I got these engines at a discount but what fun.Just thought I'd give you all a flashback price to the racing scene back then. Re: B/B chevy prices when B/B ruled
Well, factor in inflation and.. truth be told, the new crate engines can't be beat. 93 pump gas, build your own, or drop it in...All the good stuff including roller valve train, alum heads...yow! The old days were nothing like this. STW, Mike- Top

Re: B/B chevy prices when B/B ruled
Grr, The prices seem very low now, but I remember working at the dealership in those days on a flat rate schedule of 7.50 per hour of which I recieved 50%. Takes a lot of hours to pay for an L88. I think the best deal going now is the 502 horse 502. Lots of push on todays gas. Have a great day! Casey Andersen- Top
